Understanding Amazon Alexa

What sets Alexa and Echo apart from first-generation voice assistants is responsiveness, unlike Dragon Naturally Speaking. There’s no activation button to press. Simply say the trigger word: “Alexa,” “Echo,” “Amazon,” or “Computer”, followed by what you want to happen.(Be sure to you’ve set up everything properly and are using the correct command).

Once you get used to the quirks, using Alexa feels much more natural and responsive than speaking to a phone-based voice assistant like Apple’s Siri or 'OK Google'. As a result, you’ll likely find yourself using your phone less frequently when you’re at home or in the office.alexa.png

The cool part is that the integration comes absolutely free with your Act! Premium subscription. If you have an Act! subscription and an Amazon Echo device, you have the ability to connect Act! to Alexa at with no add-on costs!

Ask Actis an Amazon Alexa skill that allows you to leverage the capabilities of your Amazon Alexa service to access data in your database through Amazon Alexa enabled devices. The Ask Act! skill connects your Act! database to the Amazon service via the Act! Premium Web API or the Act! Connect Link.

Currently, with the Act! Premium skill for Amazon Alexa, you can have your Amazon Alexa enabled devices:

  • Find and read Contact information to you

  • Read your daily calendar entries to you
