Have it your way- group lists configuration new in 03 Saleslogix 8.1 update

Saleslogix provides some helpful enhancements with the release of update 03 for Saleslogix version 8.1 

Multiple columns can be returned in the Group List pane of a Detail view:

When a group of records are shown in the Web client the user can easily view a spreadsheet type of listing of the groups' records.  Then when a specific detail record is shown, the far right panel shows the first column from that group, making it easy to see both details along with the full listing of the group.  But sometimes it is helpful to show a bit more information in the group list other than the first column.  Now the group list is configurable, allowing you to have it your way.

With Saleslogix update 03 you can show more columns from the group allowing you to work more productively. The user has the ability to show more than one column.  So instead of just showing an account name maybe you want to view a more complete address as you work through a list of accounts or names.

How the group expands or shrinks for a look up is also configurable, as noted below:

This capability is very helpful when there are similar names or you need a mobile phone number or email address readily available.  While viewing the details of the record on the left you can show the group's most important columns, as shown below:

Both updates include new icons (Administrator, Architect, Application Architect) and a number of defect corrections. SNC also includes the Saleslogix Reporting Assistant to support reports with dynamic parameters on the Saleslogix web client.

SNC Updates provide modifications to pieces of Saleslogix such as the Provider, SLXServer, Admin, Architect, Saleslogix Client, SpeedSearch, Sync Server, Sync Client, and so forth. Applying these updates may also be required for Web environments when the fix is for the Provider, SLXServer, or SpeedSearch.

Saleslogix v8.1.0 SNC Update 03 is available in the external portals. This update addresses 60+ issues with localization, with particular attention to Unicode characters.  Additional areas that have been resolved include Activities & History, Functions & Triggers, Integrity Checker Tests & Repairs, improved Oracle support and several new features!

This update addresses 20+ issues with localization, with particular attention to Unicode characters.  Additional areas that have been resolved include Activities & History, Functions & Triggers, improved Oracle support and three new features!  

 NOTES for upgrade success:

  • Only install update 03 for Saleslogix 8.1 and not any other version.
  • Apply the SNC 03 update before the Web core update
  • Both SNC 03 and Web Core 03 have a Windows LAN bundle to install.
  • Understand the prerequisites before installing.
  • These updates are cumulative and thus replace the previous 01 and 02 updates.
  • Follow the specific directions for the SLXJobServer and Integrity Checker updates.
  • The Reporting Assistant requires that both Web Core Update 03 and SNC Update 03 be installed. This includes the reporting workstation in addition to all Application, Web and other Saleslogix Server servers.

New capability: Dynamic Parameter support for reports:

This includes a new Reporting Assistant that analyzes reports with custom Dynamic (or Statics) Parameters and allows for field mapping.  Note that the tools will not allow direct editing of the report but SAP Crystal Reports can be launched if installed on the workstation to modify the report.  Access the the Reporting Assistant is limited to the Saleslogix admin user.
